Ocean Girl -vs- Prairie Girl, Part 1:
A long time ago a girl and her man made a trek halfway across the United States, gladly leaving their home in the rolling and fertile farmlands of Northern Illinois to move to the Coastal wetlands of Eastern Virginia. She and her Husband were thrilled for many years to be living by the ocean and all that the ocean brought their way. They were thrilled to have the advantages a large metropolitan area brought to them...the choices, the excitement, the comforts, the frenetic pace...
But a strange thing began to happen as she would come back to visit family, still trapped in the inland oceans of grass and fertile fields planted with corn or soybeans or grasses for hay. She slowly began to miss the prairielands, the quiet open spaciousness of them. She felt torn. She was already an ocean girl, she knew that...it was in her genetic code somehow...probably from another lifetime in Ireland. But as she came back to visit the big-sky spaces of the midwest she realized she really had beeen a prairie girl all along too...
